I have NEVER had an emergency fund.
Starting my adult life in debt meant that every single cent I EVER make is already earmarked for something else.
Because of that it never seemed to make any sense to me to just let money SIT in my bank account.
This is the very thinking that has kept me in debt for forty fucking years!
So today I start with $10.
$10 for an emergency.
Seems pointless but it’s not. It’s the start.
When I ten times that it will be $100. And then it will be $1000. And eventually I aim to have $10,000 in a high yield interest account that is for any and all unexpected situations that come up.
What kind of situations do you use an emergency fund for?
Things like:
- Unexpected dental visits.
- Car issues.
- Pet and vet issues you didn’t plan for.
- House emergencies or situations that need immediate attention.
I’m excited. My $10 has been moved. I’m going to use my tracker to work towards a goal of $5500 to start. There are 11 sections so I’ll mark every $500.
Will you start your emergency fund today?
